A Chicago-born pioneer and global dance music icon, Mark Farina is best known for his signature "Mushroom Jazz" sound—a seamless blend of West Coast jazzy beats, acid jazz, and Chicago house. Since starting his career in 1988, he has released the legendary Mushroom Jazz series and co-created "Mood," widely considered the first ambient house track.
Now based in San Francisco, Farina maintains a relentless touring schedule of over 100 shows a year and continues to push musical boundaries through his label, Great Lakes Audio Recordings, and a deep commitment to both new and old-school house music history.
